Do you sometimes follow paint colour trends or you have your own favourites?
As an Environmental Designer, the space I am consulting in and its surroundings indicate what colours best suit my clients’ preferences. Sometimes they ask me to find a colour they favour most, such as blue tones, pink, beige, whites, or reds. I first take a look at the space in natural daylight, whether it be inside or outside, and consider what exists and what we will be bringing in that is on our to-do list. I consider if there will be a new area rug or sofa, bedding, curtains, what their existing accessories are, what they will be getting rid of, and so much more. Sometimes it is only a matter of looking for a change, even if the previous colour served them well. I then return to my office and explore my architectural paint set from the company they or their contractor prefer to use and select from there the most beautiful tone I see fit for the space. From front doors to kitchen and bathroom cabinets, ceilings, trim, garages, cabanas, and furniture, I love all the paint colour options we have available to us. My paint chart is created, which includes the name, the sheen, location, and any other pertinent details, and I email it to my client. My client will review, approve, and send it to their painter. I always make myself available for any questions on-site along the way.
I also enjoy hearing about the new-year release of specialty colours announced by each of the paint companies. I am looking forward to hearing about what Pantone will announce. I don’t necessarily recommend the colours because of this, as I believe the space speaks the colour and not the other way around. But I do enjoy the hype, and almost every paint colour has a place that suits it best. Sometimes we only need one colour throughout the entire space. A consultation helps determine this.
While we wait for the announcement of the 2027 Official Pantone Colour of the Year, here is a peek at the suggested 2027 paint colours of the year by some of the larger paint manufacturer brands in their own lines:
What do you feel the 2027 Official Pantone Colour of the Year will be?
I personally love the perfect white (and there are hundreds to choose from) with a splash of paint colour in the right place, paired with original Art, wallpaper and fabrics in harmony with one another.
